On 16 December, on the occasion of Space Day, the IDIS Città della Scienza Foundation , in collaboration with the DAC Aerospace District of Campania , organized an extraordinary event to celebrate Italy's important contribution to the aerospace sector. The focus of the event was on industry and applied research in the aerospace sector, with prominent guests ready to talk about their latest successes.
Challenges and Successes: The Guests of the Event
Three illustrious personalities participated in the event. Stefania De Pascale, professor of Plant Raw Materials at the University of Naples Federico II, presented interesting studies and experiments on the cultivation of plants in space. Angela Natale, president of Boeing Italy, discussed with the audience the importance of the aerospace sector for Italy. Finally, Luigi Carrino, president of the DAC, gave a warm welcome to all those present.
The Digital Rebirth of the Aviation Pioneers
On this occasion, Strategix has carried out a particularly fascinating project: the digital rebirth of aviators and scientists who have contributed to making Italy one of the leading countries in the science of space exploration.
Through the use of artificial intelligence, the project has breathed new life into historical figures who played a pivotal role in aeronautics and space.
These include Giulio Douhet , founder of the Air Force and author of the revolutionary 'The Dominion of the Air'; Umberto Nobile , intrepid aviator and polar explorer, famous for his transatlantic flights and crossing the Arctic in an airship; Francesco de Pinedo , a pioneering aviator known for his long-distance flights, including a 55,000 km tour around the world; Gaetano Arturo Crocco , precursor of rocket science and space flight in Italy, founder of the Central Aeronautical Institute; and finally, the legendary Luigi Broglio , father of Italian astronautics and creator of the San Marco Project.
Space Day to Celebrate the Past and Future
An interactive totem has been placed at the entrance to the ticket office of the planetarium of the City of Science. This totem aims to show visitors the great personalities of the past who pushed and contributed to the birth of the science of flight and space. Aviators, explorers and scientists come back to life with a message of hope that links the great feats of the past with the innovations of the future, thanks to the power of generative artificial intelligence.
The space day was not only a celebration of Italy's history and achievements in the aerospace sector, but also an opportunity to promote and inspire future innovation. The interactive totem, along with conversations and presentations, highlighted how perseverance, passion and knowledge can overcome challenges and help push the boundaries of space exploration, reminding us that past feats can inspire a future of infinite possibilities.
The event brilliantly highlighted Italy's legacy in the aerospace sector and renewed the country's commitment to support and promote further discoveries and innovations.
Thanks to projects such as Strategix, historical figures and their contributions will never be forgotten, but will continue to inspire generations of aviators, scientists and explorers of the future.
The event represents a virtuous case of digital transformation, demonstrating how the use of new technologies can generate interest and present new ways of entertainment. This innovative combination of past and future, achieved through artificial intelligence, is a clear testament to how technology can enrich the educational and museum sector, making science and history accessible and fascinating to contemporary audiences.
